Storage
Storage: Ultrapure water is highly susceptible to ionic contaminants from the environment due to low or no concentrations of dissolved ions in ultrapure water. Water reservoirs made of low-grade plastic and glass can dissolve ions and organic matter, increase the conductivity of water, and deteriorate water quality. Therefore, it is recommended to use a high-grade polyethylene water reservoir with low dissolution.
Ventilation ports
Ventilation port: Most water reservoirs have an exhaust vent for air circulation during water intake. The vent inhales outside air while bringing in CO2, bacteria, particles, and volatile organic compounds from the lab air. These will contaminate the pure water stored in the tank. Therefore, the vent should be equipped with an air filter to prevent organics, bacteria and CO2 from entering the tank.
Design
Design: It is not possible to drain the water from the flat-bottomed tank during the cleaning process. This failure to drain water is a source of bacterial growth. Therefore, we recommend using a cone-bottomed tank to drain all water. The tank should be made by blow molding to prevent uneven surfaces and provide a place for bacteria to grow and multiply.
Dispensing
Dispensing: A good dispensing pump should not cause an increase in temperature even if it works continuously for 10 hours, which is conducive to the growth of bacteria.
Disinfect
Disinfection: The growth of microorganisms at even the smallest level can form a bacterial film and deteriorate the water quality. Therefore, it is important to install a disinfection module (UV lamp) that inhibits the growth of bacteria.
